Car shows drive curiosity and excitement toward the classic, romanticized automobiles of yesteryear. In Highland Park and neighboring communities, car shows entice automobile hobbyists and spectators alike to come out and admire both history and modern innovations of the automobile industry.

Favorite Car Shows of the Summer

The air is becoming cooler and the leaves are changing, which means summer car shows have come to the end. While we here at Muller Subaru, are looking forward to upcoming events, we cannot help but reminiscence about some of our favorite car shows to date. These events include fun for the young and old car lovers alike and create cherishable moments for the entire family.

Monday Night Car Shows

Every Monday from Memorial Day to Labor Day auto enthusiasts enjoyed checking out classic cars at the Westfield Old Orchard Mall for the Monday Night Car Show. More than 2,000 spectators enjoyed the festivities that included live music, food vendors and raffles. Each Monday had a different theme like 70s night, Convertible Night and Hot Rod/Custom Night, which made this the perfect family-friendly event to teach your children about some of your favorite vintage vehicles. While the 2019 season is over, we look forward to the 2020 season and have added this to our list of top car shows to go to next year.

NIFE Pontiac Museum Regional Car Shows

The Northern Illinois Fiero Enthusiasts (NIFE) is an active car group, participating in numerous car shows and hosting weekly cruises throughout the region. During late September NIFE put on its 6th annual Regional All Pontiac Cruise and Show which benefits the Pontiac/Oakland Museum located in Pontiac, IL. The museum works on the continued preservation of the automotive industry. This car show is one of the largest shows in Pontiac and brings a strong representation of Fieros. NIFE always puts on amazing events and you should check out their website to see what they have coming up.

Cruise Night at Wicker Park

Cruise Night at Wicker Park took place every Wednesday from the end of May through September. Spectators marveled at classic, vintage and exotic cars and trucks while trying out local places to eat. Wicker Park hosted a great event that engaged auto enthusiasts to share their love for cars with fellow automobile enthusiasts.

Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals

Spend a fun-filled family weekend at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. This event provides one of the top places for horsepower enthusiasts, no matter their age, to gather and see some of the rarest American muscle cars and finest Corvettes. This all-age event includes something for everyone including children’s activities like making a model car “make and take”, Hot Wheels racing, a scavenger hunt and coloring contests to name a few. Come share your enthusiasm for muscle cars of the past and build new memories with your family and fellow car fanatics.

Chicago Auto Show

Car show 2020 season kicks off at the height of the year with the Chicago Auto Show from February 8, 2020, to February 17, 2020. Showcasing the automotive world's most innovative designs since 1901, the Chicago Auto Show is one of the greatest car gatherings in North America. Over 1,000 vehicles will be displayed at McCormick Place. View the latest styles and meet 36 of the best international manufacturers in the automotive industry. Concept cars will spark your interest. Learn the latest information about tech-savvy electric cars. Indulge in the luxury and supercar displays while spending the day browsing hundreds of models such as crossovers, sedans, pickups, minivans, hatchbacks and more.

First Look for Charity Gala; Exclusive Preview of the Chicago Auto Show

Celebrate the Chicago Auto Show by being one of the first onlookers on February 7, 2020. The First Look for Charity Gala invites you to one of Chicago's most highly anticipated, annual benevolent events. Dress to impress for a black-tie evening at McCormick Place with fine food and drink sampling champagne, wine, craft beers, soft drinks and delectable hors d'oeuvres and desserts all for a good cause. First Look for Charity Gala benefits 18 local, non-profit organizations. View the Chicago Auto Show before the public has access and kick up your heels to the beat of live entertainment at the Chevrolet, Ford and GMC displays. You will have a memorable evening knowing your contribution of $275 for admission goes directly to Chicago charities.

Park on Park Cruise Night

Come out the second Wednesday of each month through the 2020 summer season and keep the enthusiasm of old cars alive. The Road Classics car club, through collaboration with Mundelein Mainstreet, invites you to attend Park on Park Cruise Night in downtown Mundelein. Automotive enthusiasts showcase over 150 cars for your spectating pleasure. Speak with these enthused, hobbyists about pre-1977 models such as hot rods, muscle cars and custom cars.

Monday Night Car Show

Get ready for an exhilarating 2020 season of the Monday Night Car Show. Come out every Monday from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The increasingly popular Monday Night Car Show features classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods and motorcycles. With nearly 400 cars on display at the Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, this is one of the best car shows on the North Shore. Join in the fun for the entire family during themed nights. The Monday Night Car Show is hosted by a not-for-profit organization of local businessmen and citizens who are dedicated to promoting the awareness of classic car hobbies. Contributions to the program, such as the $5 entry fee for car show participants, fund youth scholarships to benefit future generations interested in learning automotive skills. Come rain or shine, if the hour-by-hour forecast has a 30% chance of rain or less the show continues.
